“I’m losing my religion,” said Athens’ very own R.E.M. The common conception of college life preaches just that: College is where students forget about their faith. A superficial glance around Athens might lead you to believe that the official religion here is football, academia or inebriation (which is often true); however, further inspection reveals a rich and diverse culture of faith that takes many forms and has many faces. This post marks the beginning of a semester-long documentary project in which I hope to take a closer look at some of those faces. How are students in Athens finding their religion?
